Laminate

It is the method in which only the anterior surfaces of the teeth are thinned by 0.3-0.7 mm without cutting, and the healthy tooth tissue is lost the least. This is the process of bonding porcelain dental laminates to the thinned area.

It is also known as porcelain laminate, laminate, and leaf porcelain tooth. It requires a particular laboratory and labor process.

In which situations are laminate teeth used?

A situation in which the length of teeth is shortened and enamels are eroded is a good indicator for porcelain lamina. Cracked and broken enamels are covered by leaf porcelain, giving the most natural tooth appearance due to its high quality of light transmittance.

Teeth that have been whitened become discolored from tea, coffee and cigarettes over time and need teeth whitening. Patients who want permanent whiteness may prefer porcelain laminate teeth.

Porcelain laminates can be applied to patients whose teeth are not aligned, do not prefer orthodontics, or have time constraints that cannot be treated with braces. Leaf porcelains are often used to treat split teeth to close the spaces between the teeth.

In addition, it may be a suitable choice for patients who avoid having their teeth cut too much.

How is Laminated Tooth Veneer Treatment Applied?

Since the patient will be given local anesthesia during the rasping step during the treatment, any pain or pain situation is not very common. The duration of the treatment may vary depending on the number of teeth to be veneered and the condition of the teeth to be treated. However, unless an extraordinary situation is encountered, the coating process on the patient’s teeth is completed in 3 sessions.

The process of tooth veneer treatment:

  • The first step is to speak to patients and learn the expectations so the dentist can make a model. The patient is informed about the possible results, and the necessary examinations and controls are created.
  • In the second session, local anesthesia is given to the patient, and pain is prevented. Then, rasping is applied to the teeth to be coated while the mouth is numb.
  • The teeth, which will be treated, are measured for veneers.
  • After the impression is taken, the teeth are expected to be ready for a second operation. Waiting time may last one week on average. During this time, there may be sensitivity in the teeth.
  • After the teeth and molds are ready, proofing is done. The color of the grips and whether they are compatible with the teeth are checked.
